Volunteering with The Daily Bread Project was really humbling. I helped pass out food and supplies, but what stayed with me most was seeing how much it meant to the women and families receiving them. One woman smiled and said, “Thank you for remembering us.” That hit me. It made me realize this work is about more than giving things away—it’s about making people feel seen, cared for, and not forgotten.
I came to help hand out supplies, but I left feeling like I had received something too. Seeing the widows smile, hearing their stories, and watching families light up over things many of us take for granted was unforgettable. It reminded me that showing up matters. Sometimes a simple act of care can make someone feel a little less alone.
